QOTD #00126: “Show us your lucky charm or something you do for good luck!”
Rabbit's foot! Four-leaf clover! We may not all believe in them, but there's nothing wrong with encouraging a little luck... just in case. Show us your lucky charm, or describe something you do for luck!

A lucky day starts with planning
"Something that I do for good luck is I verbalize everything on my checklist before I go out somewhere, so I make sure that I say everything that I put into my bag and I basically just do a verbal rundown of what I'm going to be doing, like who I'm meeting, what I'm leaving the house for, and when I need to come back. So, it just puts my mind at ease so that when I'm telling myself what I need to do I'm not running around freaking out about what I have to do."

Be your own lucky charm!
"One of the difficult parts of being a skeptical materialist objectivist etc, is that we don't necessarily believe in luck as it is per se. So I guess the best way to actually see or get good luck is just to expect it or to look for it or just to notice it when it happens. Whenever the luck of the draw gives you what you would think is good, say oh, that was good luck! I have it! And then just seek that in the future."

Take it for what it is
Let your attitude be your lucky charm!
"A lucky charm or something I do for good luck... I don't really have a lucky charm too much, but I guess for good luck I always try to stay positive. So if I see a bunch of crazy things happening around me, I will try to say a little prayer and try to stay positive. I try to keep it cool. I also try to be relaxed, so if I see a lot of chaos around me I try to be relaxed, take a breather. So I don't know if that's something for good luck, but it's just something I do a lot."

Letting go of expectations could be lucky
"So I don't have a specific good luck charm and I don't have like a ritual around good luck, necessarily, but what I do if I'm feeling anxious or a little bit nervous about an outcome is I just like fully let go of my expectations of the outcome. Like I just, I just stop thinking about what could happen or what I want to happen. I let it go, and I just trust that whatever is for me will make its way to me. That's about it ."

Our Christmas tree angel
"Since it's Christmas time , I'll share my Christmas good luck charm . And that is that every year we put an angel on top of the tree . The angel watches out over the tree over our house, make sure everybody has a very merry Christmas."

Finding luck in sentimental jewelry
"I think for me lucky charms I find in the form of a little jewelry items that I like to wear often, sometimes rings from significant parts of my life or necklaces or bracelets. I know one in particular: I have a necklace from my grandma who passed away and so wearing that kind of helps me feel like I have a little bit more luck and maybe someone watching over me. So that's something that's always been a bit of a lucky charm for me ."

My lucky charm is my family!
"Show you my lucky charm or what I do for good luck. Now, this is gonna sound a little corny, but like my lucky charm is my child and the mother of my child. I love to kiss them before I go and do anything big, or leave the house and like that's my thing. Like if I don't do that, it's probably gonna be a horrible day. Either that or I'm going to get into trouble."

Pre-sport routine
"Not really a big believer in luck, but for sports, for tennis, I'll bounce the ball three times before I serve it. You know, basketball, I will.. bounce the ball three times before I shoot a free throw. I think there's something about a routine that you know. I believe, well, may be successful if I follow that routine, so I guess in a way there's luck there."

Hidden crossed fingers
"I guess, ah, do for luck. I think I tend to sort of cross fingers when I'm, you know, either stressed out or thinking about something, or hoping I don't know. That's my thing crossing fingers, but I don't do it like up like this. I'll do it sort of in my pocket. So it's like a hidden thing."

There's no such thing as luck
"Some people call it a lot of simple tricks and nonsense. They call it luck. Going against remotes is one thing but going against the living? That's something else. In my experience, there's no such thing as luck."
