Cleaning a kid's pee - not worth it.
"One time when I was at my old job, a kid peed on the floor during the middle of the day, and the mom just like, 'Sorry,' and left. So I had to clean it up. That was a fun day. Only made $8 an hour! So yeah, definitely not worth it."

Ice cream shop scare made me never do drugs.
"So, I don't know if this is considered a nightmare, but I used to work at a ice cream shop from ages 15 to 20, and, um, I just remember in one instance - this startled me a lot, so this was my nightmare - um, these two girls come in. They're clearly not well. They seem like they might - they're not homeless, but they're not, like, not-not homeless, and they just look like they they're definitely on something. And so the one girl orders for the girl next to her 'cuz the girl next to her couldn't even look at anyone, couldn't even speak, couldn't even stop shaking. And looking someone in the eyes that is just so apparently dealing with addiction is so startling as someone that's 15, never seen that unless it's on, like, TV, you know? So, to be able to see someone that couldn't even function in public because they were just shaking and, like, like, definitely wasn't a sickness, like, this girl was 110% on-something - um, that was definitely a good nightmare to have at work as a 15-year-old. To this day, I will never do anything like that, and that is confirmed because of her. So, thank you. "

Teased by my manager for being robbed.
"Is banking considered a service industry? Yes. I was a teller and I got robbed at gunpoint, and and he left with a couple hundred dollars. Um, they found him and then they sent him to like 50 years to life because he had robbed like 10 other banks before with guns. Um, the worst part of it was my bank manager, the general manager at the time, wouldn't stop making fun of me 'cuz the robber was short. So, he makes fun he makes fun of me that this little guy came up to me and said, 'Give me your money.' And, uh, yeah, I have to live with that for the rest of my life. Thanks. "

A crappy way to start the day. Literally.
"If we can count working as a nurse in a hospital as part of the service industry, then I would say my nightmare story is when I started my shift at 6:45 in the morning, and I'm coming down the hall, and there's somebody throwing up. And I go in there and the throw-up is brown, and it turns out the throw-up is poop because the poop couldn't go down, so it had to come back out. And then I had to pour that vomit-poop into a graduated cylinder and measure it. Not a good way to start the morning."

Midnight madness with the company door.
"Um, I have worked in retail for a little bit. So I think one of the worst nights was when My backdoor key got jammed. So, essentially, I could not - I couldn't lock the back door, and it was around 10 p.m. So, the only thing I had to do - or I mean, the only thing I could do was tie shoestrings to something heavy so the door would not close. I know, it sounds confusing and crazy, and I had to wait until midnight until, um, the door - the lock company would come in. So that was crazy. I waited till midnight. I didn't get home till like 1 a.m. that night - for a door."

Serving the customer of my nightmares.
"I've worked in the service industry before. My workplace story was I had this really impatient, um, customer who was being rude, and I was making a sandwich and he was just asking for a lot of toppings, and there was a huge line, and he was just being rude and just condescending and arrogant. And I just didn't like how he was treating me, and it was something I won't forget. Um, it was a bad memory of a bad customer, so, just very rude, and I didn't like that one bit."

No story - but kids are my nightmare.
"Hi. Um, I have worked in the service industry. I've been a waitress at three different restaurants, and my nightmare is children. No story. Just, if you have children, I don't think they should be allowed to eat at restaurants unless they're well-behaved or on a leash."

Throw-up clean up at closing time.
"My nightmare workplace story is I worked at a restaurant and, you know, we were about to finish closing. And then, unfortunately, somebody threw up all over the floor and, um, we just had to clean it up. We had everything cleaned up already, but that - We we had to clean up, and it was pretty gross."

Hopelessly deep in a grease trap
"Hello. So this is my workplace nightmare story. Um, I worked at this barbecue restaurant for two years and I knew everything about it, you know, ins and outs like it was the back of my hand. I knew everything about it - or I thought, because one day my boss decided to fill me in that we had a grease trap, and by 'grease trap,' I mean a 4-foot by 4-foot, 6-feet deep of just straight grease, and he wanted me to clean it. I had no clue it existed, and I cleaned that for eight hours that day. I lost one of my favorite hats in the abyss, never to be seen again, and it was depressing. It was really sad. But the following day I decided to go, you know, check it again, make sure everything was clean inside, and it refilled to the brim. Had to clean it again. Long story short, asked for a raise and got it. Ah, it was horrible."
