Social media creates a false sense of security
"Overall, I really think that social media is more so of a burden. Um, just because it's you know, people putting their highlight reels the best or most glamorous aspects of their life. That's not what it typically looks like daily, um or habitually, but yeah, it just creates a false sense of, you know, security, just in the sense that you see everybody's post, you're like their life is probably so great when in reality, that's not how it typically is."

Social media is a burden, especially for the younger generation.
"Until a few years ago I think I would have said benefit. Starting a couple of years ago now and looking into the future I definitely lean more burden, especially for the younger generation just with all the hate language and bullying, and and just cyber cruelness that is out there now. I am so glad that I only grew up with like MySpace top eight worries and disposable cameras because that was embarrassing enough."

The future of social media is scary.
"I would say overall, it is a benefit. However, it does make me fearful of how social media affects people in their younger years. I feel like as an adult, like I was an adult when social media really got big and I had AIM when I was a kid. But like now, people are just seen their whole lives, you know, so that actually scares me quite a bit for society."

Social media is a burden.
"Okay, I'm voting burden because I think it actually disconnects people. As much as you feel more connected online, you're more disconnected socially, if that's a thing. Um, and I also think it can bring out the worst in people and division and really fester that into society. And I think that's just a huge distraction as well. Doom Scrolling wasn't a thing and I got a lot more done, when it wasn't a thing. So that's why I vote button."

The benefit or burden depends on your social media path.
"I have wavering opinions about social media and how good it is for society. I think that it depends on the line of work you're going down. Um, I want to act in movies and film and it's something I would love to do, and I need to be on social media to do that nowadays. You have to be social enough for that kind of job. But I think if I wasn't doing that, then I would gladly not be on social media and I would be perfectly fine with it. So it depends, I think, what line you're going down."

Social media benefits everyone, even as you age.
"Do you believe social media is a benefit or a burden to society? Well, it's definitely a benefit for sure. But of course benefits come with problems as well, don't they? Especially for people like me who's getting a little bit older because you've got to learn this, you've got to do that. You have to be on here, you have to focus with that. You need this adapter, you need that plug in.. everything. I don't know what's going on half the time. Really, I don't. But definitely a benefit I'm sure."

Social media isn't a burden if you're responsible.
"I think for one thing it's done to society is probably ruined our attention span. I mean, I remember being able to watch like four hour movies, and now it's just doom scrolling through TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, everything. Um, the attention span is the big thing. Other than that it gives like a weird perspective on some things in society, just from everybody, just talking and everything. Having a lot of stuff in your ear all at once is just a lot of information, but I think if you're responsible with it, and you know what you're doing, it shouldn't be a burden."

Social media can be a blessing and a curse!
"I believe social media is both. For the good that comes out of it would be people who aren't able to go out and get jobs are able to work on social media and make money and spread awareness. Um there's a lot to learn from social media, and I think all of that can be very beautiful side of it. But the burden of it would be there's a lot of research coming out that, especially for younger generations, it can be very dangerous to our mental health."

It's not safe anywhere
"I believe social media is a benefit and a burden at the same time because you can network; you can have friends without even leaving your home or your state. You have friends around the world. You could travel with those people, meetup, et cetera. The burden: We all know we have scammers, trolls, all sorts of things like that. And it's just not safe on the Internet sometimes, but.. where is it ever?"

Social media can be lucrative
"I think social media is definitely both a burden and a benefit to society because well number one it's a benefit because that's the number one moneymaker: YouTube, Tiktok. That's where people are making money. It's a burden also because people are spending way too much time on social media. Focus way too much and, and breakups can happen and mindsets can be destroyed and it can go hand and hand."

Social media is good in moderation
"This is a tough question because I feel like it helps me a lot to keep in touch with people, especially people that I don't see as much that I moved away from. At the same time, I'm on social media way too much. Lots of funny and uplifting things on there a lot of not so uplifting things, but I feel like it'd be a good source of information, but needs to be done in moderation."

Social media can be dangerous
"Sure, there are benefits to social media, of course. But I do think that the toll it takes on younger people should, you know be considered, and probably policed better and managed better. You know, I just, that's I think, the really dark side of social media."

Started out as a benefit, has become a burden
"I would say that social media has started out really, the idea of building community and connecting folks. I think we know.. know now though that it's really more of a burden. And if you look at the mental health implications and you look at the younger generation of children it's really had a negative impact. So I think it's started out as sort of a way to help connect people but has turned into ..[a burden]"

Overall massive pro for society
"Overall, I think social media has been a huge benefit to society, and I know there's a lot of drawbacks. There's a lot of things you can criticize about it. But the amount of information that we're able to share and the speed at which we're able to share it. It's almost hard to quantify just how much that has done for humanity. So overall again I know there's pros and cons, but I think overall massive pro for society."

Big love for social media
"I'm gonna say benefit to society because you get to connect with people who you might not have been able to connect with prior to the advances made in social media. I love social media. I love TikTok. I love Instagram, I'm even a Facebook girl. Find me on LinkedIn, I don't care. I love it."
